Class Split
There are several subjects where you get split into different classes than your form group depending on your level. You can get moved up or down if you get better or if the class you are in currently is too difficult. This page will tell you all about the different class splits and help you be more prepared for where you are.
English
English classes are split according to the level of your ability. There is EAL (English as an Additional Language), where you come from another country and is not very fluent in English. There is also extended English which obviously is for people who are fluent and very good at writing and literacy. The rest are split randomly.
Chinese
Chinese classes are split into 4 phases. The first one is phase 1 (the easiest one), then phase 2, and phase 3 (the most extended one for non-Chinese people). However, If you come from China and is fluent in Chinese, you will be in the language and literature class, where you follow some of the curriculum used in China.
Language
There are 4 different options you can be in for this. Spanish, French, Extended Mandarin (only for native speakers), and EAL (for people who need additional additional help in English). For Spanish and French, there are also different levels. How you are split depends on how much you know already. You can be in extended, standard, or the lowest phase (basics).
Math
Math is split into three groups, with several classes for each group. There is Extended, Standard, and Developement. All the classes learn the same thing, it's just about how much support is given. In extended, some things are too easy, so students are given additional questions.
PE
PE classes have different colours (a colour for each class), but they are all split randomly except for extended PE, which is for people who are likely to have sports as a job in the future.
The rest
The rest of the subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, D&E, Computer Science, Music, Drama, Art, and PSE) are split by your form class. So you will have them with your class despite your skill level.
